7 Keys To Living

A Resurrected Life

Let’s be honest—Easter, for many, has become just another holiday on the calendar. Bright pastel ads, last-minute retail runs, and overflowing candy aisles often drown out the deeper meaning of the season. Somewhere between the eggs and the brunch reservations, the Church faces a real question: Are we letting culture turn the resurrection into a seasonal backdrop—or are we living like it's the center of everything?

The resurrection of Jesus isn’t just a one-day event to celebrate. It’s an everyday reality we’re called to live. Christ didn’t just conquer death so we could remember it once a year—He rose so that we could rise with Him. The power that raised Him is available to us right now, not just on Easter morning but on random Tuesdays, in tough seasons, and in the quiet moments that shape our lives.

Living a resurrected life doesn’t mean we won’t face struggles. It means we face them differently—anchored in victory, grounded in purpose, and empowered by grace. The resurrection isn’t just a moment in history—it’s a roadmap for your daily walk.

Here are seven practical ways to live that out.

1. Make God's Presence Your Priority

Before anything else—seek Him. His presence is the foundation for everything that follows.

Before God gave Adam purpose, work, or even companionship, He gave him His presence. That hasn’t changed. Your greatest asset in this life isn’t your resume or your resources—it’s your relationship with Him. When you stay rooted in God’s presence, you’ll find that He takes care of your pace, your direction, and even your peace. Don’t let anyone or anything pull you away from that.

2. Live with Kingdom Authority

You weren’t created to survive your environment—you were made to rule in it.

God gave Adam dominion—real authority to shape and steward his environment (Gen. 1:26). That same spirit lives in you. You weren’t made to live at the mercy of your circumstances. The same power that raised Jesus is alive in you, and it enables you to lead, decide, overcome, and thrive.

3. Steward What God Has Entrusted

Everything in your hands belongs to Him—manage it like it matters.

Here’s the truth: it’s all God’s. Your time, your talent, your money, your influence—none of it is truly yours. But He’s entrusted it to you to manage well. Scripture tells us that nothing even grew on the earth until someone was there to steward it (Gen. 2:4-5). God’s looking for people He can trust with His stuff. Let that be you.

4. Build a Circle That Strengthens You

The right relationships will guide, challenge, and keep you grounded.

We’re not built to go solo. Proverbs says there’s safety in good counsel, and it’s true. You need three kinds of people in your life: someone ahead of you to mentor you, someone beside you to walk with you, and someone behind you who you can help bring along. Healthy relationships keep you grounded, growing, and spiritually sharp.

5. Stay Spiritually Connected Through Prayer

Prayer is not a task—it’s your lifeline to power, peace, and direction.

Prayer isn’t outdated—it’s essential. It’s not just something you check off a list; it’s how you stay in sync with God. We live in a hyper-connected world, yet many of us feel spiritually disconnected. Prayer realigns your heart, recharges your spirit, and reminds you who’s really in control. It’s not a backup plan—it’s your lifeline.

6. Invite God Into Your Everyday Work

You weren’t meant to hustle alone—fruitfulness flows from divine partnership.

Jesus said, “Abide in Me, and I in you” (John 15:4). That word “abide” just means stay close—stay connected. You don’t have to grind your way through life. When you invite God into your plans, you tap into something bigger than your own hustle. The branch can’t bear fruit on its own—it has to stay connected to the vine. That’s where the strength and fruitfulness come from.

7. Live Like God is Watching—Because He Is

Your choices matter. God honors integrity and rewards faithfulness.

1 Peter 3:12 reminds us that God’s eyes are on those who live right, and His ears are open to their prayers. God sees it all—the public wins and the private struggles. Nothing goes unnoticed. He honors integrity, rewards obedience, and delights in those who live like He’s watching—because He is. Favor flows through faithfulness.

So as we celebrate Easter and reflect on Christ’s sacrifice and victory, let’s go one step further. Let’s not just mark the resurrection on our calendars—let’s carry it in our hearts. Every day. In every decision. In every season.

Live like He really got up—and like you did, too.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and an opportune time for us to examine where we are as a people as well as a church when it comes to the stigmatization that continues to follow this critical area of our well-being. While society overall has begun trending toward more awareness, there has not been that same movement in churches, especially congregations that are historically houses of worship for people of color.
