Christopher Watkins Tribute
Christopher J. Watkins has been my friend for over 32 years. I had no clue of what he would become. All we knew is that we loved gospel music and we had fun learning it, learning about it, playing it, writing it and teaching it whenever we could. He’s always been the big brother that I never had. I’ve always had big brother figures but, not one so close to my age. All I know is after one St. Louis Gospel Choral Union YYA rehearsal and one band rehearsal, we were inseparable. Chris always had vision and he included me in a live recording which turned into Chris and Kyle with True Spirit. What I’ve seen in him over the years is not only an artist, songwriter, minister and musician, I see in him an organizer, encourager, leader, administrator and councilors that has a true heart for God’s people. He’s one that will go out of his way to help anyone he can especially his friends. I’m so glad to have him as my best friend. There is no one else I would rather have in my corner. Houston, Texas has gained a jewel. And for him, I know, the best is yet to come.
